Johannes Vermeer is one of the most famous painters of the Dutch Golden Age. He lived and worked his entire life in Delft. Where was his house and where did he create his masterpieces. Does Vermeer’s ‘The Little Street’ really exist and who was his teacher? You will discover this and much more during this fascinating city walk, which also gives you a good overview of the historic city. Our guide will show you all the important Vermeer locations and share some hidden secrets about his paintings. You certainly don’t have to be an art lover to enjoy this walk.
If you decide to extend the standard walk of 60 minutes, you have the option to visit the Old Church. It is in this church where Vermeer was buried, in very good company! The scientist Antoni van Leeuwenhoek was also buried in this church and probably served as a model for two of Vermeer’s paintings. One last tip! You can visit The Hague on the same day and visit Museum Mauritshuis to see ‘The Girl with the Pearl’ and ‘View on Delft’.
